‘UNMASKING AI’ will be the 3rd annual How It’s Made festival and exhibition. The event will see creative artists collaborating with researchers to develop a 3-day series of events on artificial intelligence with the theme of Then.Today.Tomorrow.
Creative people will be invited to meet with researchers and scientists and then produce creative experiences, reflections and works about Artificial Intelligence (AI). Researchers will bare all, sharing how the technology works, the ways it is being used and intended uses in the future along with the human, planetary and other risks and impacts. With the technology spreading so rapidly, society and laws are struggling to keep up.While the research learnings will focus on many aspects, the topic is especially controversial in the art and creative world.
In addition, this year we will be extending the relationship between research and the arts a bit further, with at least one project including a two-way exchange, where the artist produces a creative endeavour but also collaborates with one of the researchers to co-author a research paper and invites the researcher to contribute to the artistic creation.
In the previous 2 years, researchers provided knowledge and inspiration for the artists, but this additional way of working together builds the relationship between the artists and researchers even one step further for at least one of the projects but is not a requirement for all projects.
